A little introduction....
Published on September 5, 2004 By The Crusaders In Blogging
Hello to you all...
I probablly should have done this earlier but well I was a bit taken up by the whole experience and seem to spend more time roaming your articles rather than writing my own.
I would like to give you some idea of who you are talking to as I think perhaps sometimes I can get caught up on the same subject, I'm sure you know what that is though I wont get into it now, and perhaps it hides the whole of who I am.....
Well, let's see.....I'm not far off thirty at the moment......I have a beautiful almost four year old with my partner of eleven years, I call him partner because we're not married, .....oh and I'm Australian....living on the south Coast in a small country town of sixteen thousand or so.....I am firstly and foremost a Mother to my son and partner in life to my darling man who is Head Chef in a busy tourist restaurant......I am an artist....though I should add 'Struggling" before artist!!....Um...there's a lot of other little things I do but I'll save them for another time.. I have travelled Australia extensively with many different types of work but have always been drawn back to the town I grew up in....where we live now. I have endured some difficult situations in my life but I think overall I have had a lucky life and have ultimately always been happy. ....I have two beautiful dogs who bark way too loudly at passers by......my parents live close by which is great for our son.....my two brothers and one sister all live overseas......
What else (she wonders) I have a pretty good sense of humor....I have to being with the people around me who are quite sarcastic and cynical at times though with the biggest hearts in the world.......
That's all I can think of to share right now ...but what I would like is to hear a little about yourself so I can have a sense of who I'm chatting with......."

I live in little ol South Australia....on the coast ...ofcourse!

Now you've got me thinking of the Pogues song "South Australia"

"way away, haul away, I'm bound for South Australia"

(of course, I know the song's older'n the Pogues, as with many of their songs, but it was their version that I was introduced to).

Sally,

Hello, M'dear... how are you?! You are a very interesting lass.....I really enjoy reading your point of view.....I also imagined you to be older somehow....it must be your maturity!! Thankyou for the welcome it's great to be here and great to meet you!

Interesting conversation going on downstairs with Andy....what do you think?!

I haven't met everyone properly yet!!...C'mon don't be shy.....what's your story??
on Sep 10, 2004
I'm 25 and married (coming up on 7 years of marriage) with two little boys, ages 7 and 4.

I am a native Texan, but am currently living in Hawaii on my husband's military orders. He is almost to the midpoint of a one year deployment in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

I am a stay-at-home-mom and I love to write and I can't keep a pet or plant alive for anything.

I graduated about a year ago with a BGS which means I don't know crap about anything but it looks really good on a fast food restaurant job application.

My favorite shows are The Simpsons and SNL, and my two favorite books are Jinn and The Cobra Event.

I love playing the Sims and Animal Crossing and Zoo Tycoon. I really enjoyed Final Destination and Gladiator and Return to Me.

I think David Duchovny is super hot.

My favorite places to eat are Phucket Thai and Genki Sushi.

I like to sleep in, and I love Smirnoff Ice.

I drive a white '98 Oldsmobile Silhouette that is always dirty and I have an air hockey table in my living room.

I am very, very, very bad at math, and am really horrible at baking desserts.

. . . more than you ever wanted to know about me, huh?

Texas Wahine!!!!!

. more than you ever wanted to know about me, huh?

Texas.....I could never know enough about you......you explain your self so well with your imagination and the way you connect through your writing is amazing!

You seem a very mature 25 I must add......I don't think I really started to get it together until mid twenties.....I guess I grew up big time when we had our son.

I think your kids are very lucky to have you as a stay at home Mum....all kids deserve it...it is worth much more than money.
I work (if you call painting work!?) from home and try to blend it in with my son's routine......his happiness is more important than a higher income!

It's great to come across other Simpsons fandiddelyoodidily.........we speak our own language...when we get together ..don't you think?!
Who is your favourite character on the show??
What or who is SNL??
Jinn...and ..the Cobra Event?? I haven't actually heard of them....what are they about?

You get to sleep in....you are so lucky...I haven't slept in for almost four years now......I never set an alarm clock for the mornings because my son IS the alarm clock...he's up by 6am or 7am at the latest!!

My other half is a Chef....and a very talented one at that so we rarely go out for dinner because he reproduces anything we feel like at home....unfortunately I am his kitchen hand.....and he is prone to making an awful mess.....!! I'll see if I can find some really easy dessert recipes for you.....that are failure proof!

Thanks for sharing a little more about yourself, Texas Wahine, and I hope we have fun getting to know each other more in the future!

I know...I know...I have no shame....how dare I bump myself back up...simply because I have not finished with a subject yet.....how dare I want to find out more about the people I am speaking with.....damn me to hell for wanting to meet everyone in a slightly more personal manner....

Eight wonderful people have shared a little more of themselves here....but there is more of you out there....many, many more......I know I could roam around reading your articles and finding out about yourselves.....and I do that now....but this is just more of a formal greeting of which I have always practiced in life......and helps me to form a connection with you.

So...please don't be shy.....just a little about yourself will go a long way....

I'm going to borrow Texas Wahines tidbits

I'm 21 - married 14 months - I have a 9month old daughter
I'm 3 months older then my husband
All 3 of our birthdays fall on the same day - ie mine is in may but this year it was a Monday, Nicks is in August on a Monday and Elana is in December and it will be a Monday - next year they will all be Tuesdays

I'm an Australian - born in Ipswich but living in Brisbane (Qld)

I am a stay-at-home-mum

I let personal issues get the best of me failed my first year of university extremely well and never went back

I love the Simpsons - but I just love television -especially Australian drama and comedy - it's my favourite subject to talk/blog about I think (besides Elana)

I play ALOT of mahjong on the computer - I love to play trivial pursuit
My very favourite movie of all time is Princess Bride. Followed by in no particular order -- When Harry Met Sally, Pretty Woman, Grease 2, Empire Records and Ever After.
My 4 favourite disney movies and they're equal favourites are Beauty & the Beast, Sleeping Beauty, Hercules and The Little Mermaid.
I'm not a fan of animal movies (or animals really)
I can't stand Pinnochio
The Deep end of the Ocean is probably my favourite book

I love watching AFL and NRL on weekends - Lions & Broncos

I don't really like David Duchovny - but I don't really find any movie stars attractive

Our house came with a pool/billiard table -- but we haven't used it in about 3months. It also came with a dishwasher thats used very infrequently.

I just like to eat - Venice is my favourite restuarant and I love pretty much anything my husband cooks - especially barramundi or beef strogganoff or his lamb shank cannelloni - oh my gosh good.

My husband won't let me sleep in (note husband not baby - baby is quite content to not get up) If husband is awake - wife must be awake too

I don't drive - I let my learners permit lapse before I got my P's one day I may remedy this

I married a man with a Science degree majoring in maths & computers -- but he won't add up things for me

Hello Trina p......thanks for stopping by...

I am a stay-at-home-mum

I love to here of other stay at home mums......I still work from home...but at least I am always there for my son....I feel really bad when someone says "I'm Just a mum...".....Just a mum...it is the most important part of life.....and I feel bad for kids who, for whatever reason....don't have their mum there for them....If only every child grew with a loving family who put the emotional security before money.

I love the Simpsons - but I just love television -especially Australian drama and comedy - it's my favourite subject to talk/blog about I think

Another Simpsons fan....I think most people are...though some don't admit it!
What shows do you watch on tele??

I play ALOT of mahjong on the computer

Um....what is Mahjong..?

My very favourite movie of all time is Princess Bride. Followed by in no particular order -- When Harry Met Sally, Pretty Woman, Grease 2, Empire Records and Ever After.

Yeah...Princess Bride is a good one.....My favourites are Clash of the Titans (the one about the Greek Gods....I think there's some kind of sports team with that name...well it's not about that!).....
Flash Gordon...I love the Music...D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D...FLASH ...oooooohhhhh.....something something something else.......hmm I can't remember the words....I must like it a lot!....
Oh and Empire of the Sun.......every time I have watched it the scene towards the end when the war is over and he's at a orphanage waiting to be found by his parents and his mother walks ... and looks straight through him and he just stands there ....until she finally sees it is him......always gets the waterworks started.....oh my god it almost got started then just thinking about it!!

I love watching AFL and NRL on weekends - Lions & Broncos

I'm not really a sports fan...I don't mind it but I'm not really into it....My Dad is footbal mad these days....and every weekend he asks me if I've been watching the footy....and my reply is always "No Dad"......one day he'll stop asking....

Our house came with a pool/billiard table -- but we haven't used it in about 3months. It also came with a dishwasher thats used very infrequently.

I would 'Looovvvee' to have a pool table.....we were going to get one but my other half said he'd like to make one....so it may be a while......he has a long list of things we have put off buying because he wants to make them himself......
I have a dishwasher too....but I actually wash the dishes first and then put them in the dishwasher ...when it's full I give them a rinse cycle....everyone thinks I'm mad for washing them beforehand as it defeats the purpose....but I'd be buggered if I'm going to let them fester in there for a few days before I have enoough to do a load...!!

I just like to eat - Venice is my favourite restuarant and I love pretty much anything my husband cooks - especially barramundi or beef strogganoff or his lamb shank cannelloni - oh my gosh good.

Nice....your husband cooking for you....it's so modern...does he also clean up after himself..if he does you certainly have one up on me!!

It's really nice to meet you Trina P.....and it will be easier for me to jump in on conversations with you here now that I have met you properly!

Hello Mignuna.....I'm glad you poked your head in....and thankyou for the welcome!!

This is just an amazing place to experience and I too am richer for the experience and am enjoying meeting everyone!

I find it is a very addictive habit.....whenever I log on I say to myself...."I'll just do this for an hour ...no longer"....the hour passes...."Just 1/2 and hour longer and then that's it"......."Ok..Ok....just a little bit more".......three hours later.....Help...I can't get away from here.............!!!!!

Time seems to speed up when visiting JU!!

Anyways....I'm really glad to have met someone as yourself Mignuna and I think we will have a great time as we get to know each other in the future.
